Daily Guidance - January 10

Seeing Our Lady of Charity
reminded me of the song,
"Where Charity and Love Prevail.

Chorus:
Where Charity and Love Prevail,
there God is ever found.
Brought here together by Christ's love,
by love are we thus bound.

With grateful joy and holy fear
God’s charity we learn;
Let us with heart and mind and soul
now love God in return.

Forgive we now each other’s faults
as we our faults confess;
And let us love each other well
in Christian holiness.

Let strife among us be unknown,
let all contention cease;
Be God’s the glory that we seek,
be ours God’s holy peace.

Let us recall that in our midst
dwells God’s begotten Son;
As members of his body joined,
we are in Christ made one.

No race or creed can love exclude,
if honored be God’s name;
Our family embraces all
whose Father is the same.

Text: Ubi Caritas, tr. Omer Westendorf (1961)
Tune: CHRISTIAN LOVE, CM, by Paul Benoit (1961)

Remembrance - Day 29 of 40

I read recently that the cave of our heart is our soul
and I do so love the song by that name
by John Michael Talbot.

Both of these women loved me in that tenderest of places... deeply and well. ❤️

Hamilton

Curious and on a whim, I checked out the "Hamilton" Broadway recording from our library.
The first time thru the first cd, I thought "I'm turning this in because I just don't understand
the words."

But the music and the lyrics were catchy and, not having any plans to stop back by the
library soon, it stayed in Betsy's CD player so I kept listening to it.

Then Friday night Tadd drove us somewhere and I wanted to share a couple of songs that
were becoming my favorites. Plus, she adds with a twinkle, with him being a big history
buff, I figured he could probably help me make sense of it.

Sure enough, between being able to ask questions and me not driving so I could concentrate
on the words, I began to really enjoy both the music and the story even more.

Who knew?

In fact, I haven't even started disc 2 yet. I'm still enjoying the first one so much and with
each time thru, not only do I catch a little more, I also become more and more impressed
with Lin-Manuel Miranda and his Gift of music, wit and making history both fun and
interesting.

Savoring January Day 9 :: Nourish

Regulars found on my self-care menu are
soft, lullaby-like music,
quietly rocking to the steady rhythm of tick tocks,
wise words affirming my way,
and intentionally Abiding in the presence of angels.

For All the Saints

For All the Saints

... We feebly struggle, they in glory shine
 Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine

Now the 4 Sisters are coming along.

Mother Mary

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

And in my hour of darkness
she is standing right in front of me
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be. Let it be.

Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

~ song lyrics

Gentle Woman

Gentle woman, quiet light
Morning star, so strong and bright
Gentle mother, peaceful dove
Teach us wisdom; teach us love

Breathe September :: Listen

Six of the songs on my "Be Still, Deb" playlist have my word for this year, Abide, in the title.

Each one has become a gentle anchor quietly reminding me to take a breath and intentionally
choose where (in Grace) and how (in Mercy, Hope, and Peace) I Abide.

I love and am touched by each one.

❤️

Smiling because as I was typing this the one by Sam Cox was on and I found myself leaning
back with my eyes closed and singing.

I've listened to them so many times that they're in my bones.

❤️

(And that's a very good thing.)
