Rest and Be Here

One of my sister's and her hubby is coming through town this weekend. We moved here 

almost 30 years ago and this will be her first visit here so that's exciting!

I've been doing some cleaning in the evenings this week and it is very good to sit, rest, 

and just be for a bit.

Getting my Betsy-girl all fixed up.

My newest teacher.

May I be as gracious and willing to make it right

when I next make a mistake.

Not only did he pay for the part and the labor

to get my side view mirror fixed,

he also had my car detailed.

And he made sure they did it right

(which took three reminders).

The lumber had scuffed my hood

and the big band-aid left some duct tape residue.

But now?  

All gone.

He left us better than he found us.

Savoring January Day 10 :: Kindness

Found a lovely surprise on my desk this afternoon. 

As soon as I saw the box 

a wide smile spread 

because I knew exactly who'd left it there. 

My favorite partner at work, 

who feels like a big brother, 

enjoys brightening my day by occasionally leaving 

little treats for me to discover.

Star Surprise

Reaching for the light switch this evening, 

I noticed my Star sister has a little bit of glitter on the front of her dress.

Well, she adds with a twinkle, 

that led to a whole new angle for photos!

So love that even after more than a year 

my angel quartet still holds new discoveries 

that surprise and delight.

Thanksgiving People

Knowing how much cheer they would bring, 

Tadd asked me last night 

"Where are all of your Thanksgiving people? 

 Did we get them down yet?"

After he brought down the boxes and lots of smiles were found 

as I gently unwrapped each one, 

he carried them all into our front room for me. 

The biggest grin spread when I saw 

that he had lined them all up on our coffee table 

so that they could watch tv with us. 

 He's so thoughtful like that.

While waiting at the dry cleaners today I paused, looking back and up. Grinning because 

my elderly gentleman friend and his next door neighbor like to see the pigeons so they 

feed them, hoping to encourage them to stick around.

And it is kinda fun when I drive out on mornings that I happen to catch them finishing up 

their breakfast and to be surrounded by a sea of beautiful wings of gray, black, white, and 

some shimmering teal mixed in.
