Savouring January - Day 18 - Drink

Slaking this morning’s thirst
while keeping the icy chill at bay
with a hand-warming mug of creamy chai tea.

Rediscovering an old favorite cup
tucked in the back of our kitchen cabinet
has me smiling big
as I bask in the wonderful, Joy-filled surprise.

Blue!!
Purple!!
And sweet flowers!!
(All my favorites)

Throughout my day,
I almost always have
a cup of cool water to drink nearby.

A couple of other
reliable thirst quenchers for me
are a lit candle
and writing in my journal,
all while under the gracious sheltering presence
of Mama Grace’s gentle gaze.

Delighting in the dance.

Morning Freshness

Hurricane Cindy brought
a lot of gray, rainy days our way this week.

This morning it was so good
to see cheerful blue skies
and to breathe in the freshly laundered air.

Even the way the sun shined
made it it seem like everything was sparkling clean.

Morning Grace

There is such pure sweetness
in being gently stirred awake by morning birdsong
and the fresh fragrance of dew.

My spirit stretches and my whole body eases
into a tender, welcoming-the-day smile.

Trustin' in Grace and in The Wisdom of the Body

So I had a Lent themed book picked out but when it came time to order it, I was having
trouble finding it. When a copy finally arrived on Tuesday, some of the pages are so messed
up in places that I can't make out all of the words. While disappointed, after sitting with it
for a bit, I knew.  It will need to be returned.

In the midst of all of that planning, this preordered book quietly arrived a couple weeks back.
I remember smiling when I opened it to see more orange, and both the title and cover spoke
to me. I then set it aside with a promise to return to it... later.

After reluctantly giving up on my first choice for a Lenten companion, I picked this one up
last night and started reading.

And lookie what I found just in the intro of this book that so clearly chose me:

"You are beginning the long and beautiful journey home."

"The body speaks truth if we would only learn how to listen."

"... the body calls us fully present here and now."

..

Ah, she says as a wide smile spreads, if practicing Grounded means to practice being
fully in this present moment, doesn't that mean being fully in my dear body as well?

Yes.

Morning Prayers

Up for a few more minutes after seeing darlin' hubby off on what will be a l-o-n-g day.
One of his co-worker's 92-year old father died and today is the funeral in Savannah.
Their work culture is family oriented and so several fellas are carpooling the 3.75 hour drive(s). Holding them all in prayers while wishing them safe journeys and traveling mercies.

May Marvin's dad Rest In Peace.

Breakfast Guest

Lookie at who stopped by our back yard
for breakfast yesterday morning!

. .

In the 23 years we've lived in this neighborhood,
I've only seen deer a couple of times
and that has been just in the past year
and *never* in our yard, not 20 feet from me before!

 Yay!!

Savoring January Day 13 :: Work

Intentionally choosing my Hope mug
and taking time to sit with my angels
and candlelight yesterday morning
was a very good way to practice being
Grounded
before heading off to work.

(And, Gracious, was this self-care needed)
(And it really did help . . . a lot!)

Monday Moments

Sunrise Sentries

Drip Sandcastle Lessons
(Just like Grandma used to make)

Big Boys' Rest Time

Lifeguards
The pool was steps away from the back door
and was heated.  It was sooooo nice!

Matching Cuties
(Waiting to be seated for supper at Hickory Tavern)

My sister-in-law took this one of
her sweet kiddos and me.

I was so touched by her caption:

"I'm not sure if there is a more adored aunt in all the land. 💜"

And I do *so* love our little ones.

Breathe September :: Drink

Being out of milk this morning it was ice water in my happy Elmo cup. Both the refreshing
liquid and offer of a big bear hug quenched my thirst on this warm, late Summer's day.

August Break :: Favorite Mug

This morning it's my sweet Peace mug.

Between my refreshing cup of cold milk
on a warm summer's morning
and a lovely, affirming conversation with a dear friend,

I am indeed resting in Peace,
feeling grounded in Grace
and Abiding in Love.

Blessed be.

August Break :: Oranges

Magical morning light on a small part of a branch
that tends to turn first.

(Most of the rest of her leaves are far from this far along)

See?
