Saturday Snippets

Rode along with hubby on a gray, rainy Saturday.

☔️   .   🌫   .   💜

When he finished up with his treasurer duties
we shared a late patio lunch
and then went for a short walk
to check out the bakery next door.

While Hubby did a little more exploring,
I was enchanted with these lanterns.

It was a good day.

Morning Freshness

Hurricane Cindy brought
a lot of gray, rainy days our way this week.

This morning it was so good
to see cheerful blue skies
and to breathe in the freshly laundered air.

Even the way the sun shined
made it it seem like everything was sparkling clean.

Pop-Up Pond

It rained cats and dogs this afternoon
and we had a flood warning.

 Sure enough...
this little area off of our carport isn't usually a pond.

April Love 2017 :: Day 3 - Wooden

[Baby] Wood

Sweet Hubby grew up calling these seasonal spring strands "tree worms." Born and raised
in a land where we didn't have a lot of trees, this was a totally new concept for me.

Blessed with a bounty of hardwoods in our neighborhood, these clingy little strings are
hanging from every single oak branch and falling to the ground. They are *everywhere*!

There are so many tree worms on each tree that, rather than a lovely spring green, our
mighty oaks take on a yellowish, brownish green hue until all of the pollen has fallen.

Can you see them hanging from the branches in the distance to the left? And even
farther off to the right?

Cold, Rainy Afternoon in February?

Rouge One!

It's been awhile since we've seen a movie in the theatre
and this was the perfect day.

Safe in the Storm

The outer bands of Hurricane Matthew have found us.  We're just fine and only expecting
about a half inch of rain so nothing like what others are getting, including our beloved
St. Augustine, FL.

Joining in the love and prayers being sent to all in the storm's path.

Everyday Beauty :: Water

Being raised a farmer's daughter on the hot, dry and dusty plains of Texas, I came to know
very early on that water was our lifeblood. Our family prayed for rain every single day and
twice on Sunday as it was a regular petition at Mass.

We received so little that, rather than quarters or eighths, we counted rain in sixteenths and,
during really dry times, we even counted it in hundredths. Every single, precious drop was
celebrated and how much "moisture" we'd received was included as a regular highlight in
letters to loved ones who lived states away.

In a conversation with Daddy this past Sunday evening, he told me "they "claim" Amarillo's
annual rainfall is 19-20". He then told me about a time when all that fell for an entire year
was 6 inches!  I asked was he farming then and he said, "Yes. Nothin' grew that year."

Don't let anyone tell ya that farmers', especially those in the Texas panhandle, aren't
tenacious!

Here in Georgia we get about 50" a year and, even after moving away almost 29 years ago,
raindrops on my windshield still feel very much like holy water sent straight from Heaven.

January Abiding

Even on cold, gray, and wet January days
the stark beauty
of quietly Abiding in your life just as it is
(and just as you are)
all while trusting that in this moment?

It is Enough.

Blessing Basking :: Day 18

On a cold, rainy evening after a busy day of billing,
I am grateful for the ease and comforting yumminess
of a piping hot pot pie for supper.

Blessing Basking :: Day 8

On this grey, rainy Sunday afternoon,
I'm grateful for some Sabbath time
with a warm mug of creamy chai tea,
my soft beige down comforter,
and not a place in the world to be
other than right here.

August Break 2015 :: Sweet Delights

Delightful, sweet little companions
and very good company
along my way.

Each one a gentle reminder
of loved ones
and, when I need it,
reassurance that all is well.

My sweet little butterfly
is from my Moma
and the back says
that she gave it to me in Jan. 1994 -
❤️

Smiling because
I know she'd enjoy knowing
that I am thinking about her today
and sending love.

❤️❤️❤️

Another sweet delight
for this farmer's daughter's heart
is the blessing of rain.

More Beloved Christmas Angels

I haven't been to this particular church at Christmastime in a long while.

It was such a *wonderful* surprise
at mass last night
to see these beautiful angel banners were still up!

I had forgotten about them
and was so *tickled*
to remember how much I've always enjoyed them.

This lovely is one of my favorites.
She plays her trumpet
from high on the pole right near where I sat
(on purpose so I wouldn't be far
when she rained down her blessings).

Blessing Basking ~ Day 6

Today I am grateful for the gift of a lovely morning rain.
As a farmer's daughter, raised on the Texas prairie,
we prayed for rain for our thirsty crops every. single. day.

(With the exception of harvest time, of course.)
